Bathing Beauty: Portable Art

Charlotte Tilbury’s Norman Parkinson collection has been out for a while, now, but the launch coincided with the arrival of Baby AMR and so I couldn’t really make as much song and a dance about it as I would have liked. My top makeup picks from the collection would be the 1975 lipstick (a hot orange-red with a matted-down finish that’s so very retro, see here) and the Lip and Cheek Glow (here) for a multipurpose, summery flush. But my favourite piece, overall, purely for aesthetic reasons, is the Bathing Beauty toiletries bag (here) which features Parkinson’s iconic photograph of Jerry Hall about to dive into a bright blue sea.

What’s so wonderful about this bag is that it’s like a portable little piece of art. You could place it in any bathroom and it would instantly add colour and interest. Though it is brilliantly sized and would make a perfect travel bag, it’s very tempting to simply leave it in situ in the bathroom and let it work its stylish magic. I would say that if you were investing in something from the Charlotte Tilbury x Norman Parkinson collection merely for the beauty of the packaging, then this should be your thing. It’s pricey, but it’s more like buying a print than a toiletries bag – the image is large, the bag is functional, and if you’re already a Tilbury junkie then you’re likely to have similar makeup items to the ones in the collection anyway. Of course if budget is no object, splash out on the lippie too – it’s fabulous with a tan!

The Bathing Beauty Bag is £55 at Charlotte Tilbury. (Whilst you’re over there, take a look at my blog post that I wrote for my Golden Goddess sponsored blog takeover!)
