Autumn Fashion? I'm Already There. | AD

hush autumn winter 2018

I feel as though everyone I know is now suddenly ready for the Autumn. Everyone is content that we've "had a good summer", even though it's still August, and they're posting pictures of turning leaves and cosy scarves and talking about where they're spending Christmas.

I can never have enough summer, but I have to say that the sudden cooling of temperatures has had me digging about for cardigans and slightly more robust dresses. And so the Autumn collection from one of my favourite fashion brands, Hush, couldn't have dropped at a better time.

Hush Autumn Collection*

The whole collection is so sexily rock 'n' roll with its glitzy stars and bright faux fur and flashes of leg that it makes me yearn for a chilly night out; red wine and a hot dinner, a walk home in the dark with the smell of bonfire in my hair.

Yes, it may be currently just a little too warm for full-on knitwear, and yes my new obsession with a certain red faux-fur jacket might be ever so slightly seasonally premature, but in this slide towards Autumn it's important - crucial, some might say - to have a variety of layering options.

Take, for example, the Keris Cardi*, which can be nonchalantly thrown over the top of a dress, the more causally the better. It's not too heavy for a summer evening, but woolly enough to keep you toasty through the winter when you're layered up with vest, dress and coat.

Talking of dresses; there are enough fabulous ones in this collection to last you a decade of autumns. The Emanuelle dress*, one of the easiest and comfiest dress shapes of all time, is back in a brilliant navy and sparkling gold colourway, above. Lightweight enough to wear for an Indian Summer with tanned legs and sandals, it'll look equally fabulous at Christmas when you've adorned yourself with baubles and glittery eyeshadow.

There's also a mini stars version that I missed on my first perusal of the collection - infinitely useful, whether you're slouching about at home or out for dinner. The Emanuelle dress is £69 here*.

But hello, who's this? Ding dong, there's a vixen at the door! The shape of the Yasmin dress (£99 here*) is figure-skimming and flattering, but has this amazingly sexy leg reveal thing going on and a gorgeous shirred waist that gives the top half a fitted feel. The fabric is soft and light - again, great for the end of summer if you want to wear it straight away - and the star print is just gorgeous.

For a tougher look than the standard "wear-with-trainers-sport-luxe" one, I've worn the maxi with Hush's Avery Biker Boots* - the buckles and studs are a nice contrast to the soft, feminine cut of the dress.

hush autumn winter 2018I think that the Yasmin will be a sellout piece; there's a touch of the Morticia Addams about it, isn't there? The nipped in waist and the long, column-like silhouette. Morticia-gone-casual. Morticia-Lite. Do come in.Buy the Yasmin Dress here*hush autumn winter 2018

And what do we have here? Only the foxiest little faux-fur jacket in a fiery, autumnal red! Hush have also launched a longer black version of this, which is possibly more versatile, but who needs more black jackets? Not I. (I do, but that would ruin my paragraph.)

The Harri faux fur (buy it online here*) makes me feel jolly and festive and it has obvious appeal towards the end of the year when anything - anything - red is considered to be party wear.

But it's not Christmas yet and so I'm wearing mine over a Carpe Diem t-shirt (find it here*) and leather leggings (here*) with the Ledbury trainers*.

To conclude this little shopping session, what better than a dress that you mustn't, under any circumstances, bend over in? I have to say, for showcasing tanned legs it's a gem, but Mr AMR got a bit of a shock when I did some impromptu twirling!

The Cressida Shirred dress (find it here*) has something of a vintage feel to it - perhaps it's the sheerness, the delicate fabric, or maybe it's the dainty star pattern. And it looks great, and I mean great, with a pair of cowboy-style ankle boots.

I can't get enough of these Harlow boots* - they are everything I want from a saucy bit of footwear. They're a classic shape made more unusual with the stars and the snakeskin print. Amazing with denim shorts, if you want to wear them immediately (I do), but just as good with tight jeans when the cold weather sets in.

And did I mention how excellent they look with dresses? Maxi, mini, ones you can't (shouldn't) twirl in...

So those are my top picks from the new Hush autumn collection* - what takes your fancy? Honestly, there were so many great pieces it took me ages to narrow it down to this selection! I could have done a whole series of posts. Maybe I will. Just need to let Mr AMR recover from my sudden knicker-flashing episode...
