Weekly Window Shop: The Prettiest Bedding

Finding properly pretty bed linen is not the easiest of tasks, especially for children’s rooms. Because a lot of the time “pretty” means cartoon fairies and a very sickly sort of princess pink, when what you actually want is Liberty print and the sorts of teeny tiny ditsy patterns that you would still absolutely drape your own bed in. Grown-up pretty.

I’ve been trying to find nice stuff for Angelica’s bed because having only one “best” duvet does not bode well, as you’ll know if you’ve ever dealt with an exorcist-level child sickness episode; but I’ve also been on the hunt for bits and pieces for my studio shoot room, which is slowly being turned into my (very girly) fantasy bedroom. I’m basically living out all of my childhood dreams, with a pink bed and floral linen and the kind of wallpaper you’d find in a dolls house.

(Update: you can see the studio room in my latest video here – the video contains an AD for Bensons.)

Anyway, if you’ve been hunting for pretty bed sheets and duvet covers then look no further – I’ve done the searching, you can just do the clicking. Granted many of these sets are intended for children and so only come in single and double bed sizes but there are a few places, such as Coco & Wolf, who make absolutely glorious bed linen to fit most standard beds. Here are my favourite pretty bedding sets:

Coco & Wolf

Let’s start with the aforementioned Coco & Wolf, shall we? They make luxury bed linen, picnic blankets, toys and even kids’ clothing using Liberty fabric. I just don’t think you can get much prettier than this stuff – click on to their website at your peril!

Sheets start at £28 for a cot, £62 for a single – an investment, but this is the sort of linen you’ll want to pass down as an heirloom. Or not. You’d have to prise these sheets from my cold, lifeless hands. Coco & Wolf are online here.

Christy

The Ladybird print duvet set from Christy Junior is still one of my all-time favourites; a tiny woodland and floral print in beautiful colours, at £55 for a duvet set (cover and pillowcase) it’s not outrageously priced considering the quality.

You can find it online here – sometimes Christy do an introductory offer where you get 20% off your order if you sign up to their email list, which is well worth doing if you’re buying a few things. Or even one thing, I suppose!

La Redoute

I’ve only just discovered La Redoute for homeware and blimey, they have a lot of variety. Including dozens of bed linen sets with Liberty-esque prints. Go forth and absolutely be in your element; this page* has a great selection of tiny pretty prints.

I’m particularly fond of the Bertille print, shown above, which starts at £25 for a duvet cover here*, and the Fraise print, pictured below, which starts at £7 for a pillowcase here*. Just beautiful.

For bigger bed sizes (the above prints come in single and double) I think that the Country Flowers range is exquisite – pillowcases start at £7 here* and duvet covers at £40 here*.

Oooh one more, sorry, can’t help myself: LOOK at this Adelaide print cushion with its vintage little woodland creatures:

So sweet and – again – £7 for a square pillowcase. You can find that here*. Right, that’s my scouring of La Redoute done, who else makes things pretty?

Joules

More grown-up bedding; this ditsy print from Joules is simple and chic. The blue is fresh and summery and reminds me of Burleigh’s calico pottery. Prices start at £55 for a single duvet cover at Amara here*.

Actually Joules have loads of nice options – more grown-up, really, than for a child’s room (I was originally looking for Angelica!) and they even have a bee cushion. Remember my obsession with bees? Oh, those were the days…

OK, as usual, your own suggestions below in the comments please! I found lots of great towels the other week after your pointers, so looking forward to building up a nice little database of pretty floral prints.

  5. Thank you! I’ve been looking for ages for things like this for my daughter’s new room, and didn’t find anything half as nice. I’ve just ordered the Christy ladybird one and the la redoute Adelaide set, which are even cheaper than the price you listed, must be a sale on. Thanks Ruth! So far I’d bought her the Woodland set from great little trading company but it’s not as nice as these, might have to return it!

  6. My daughter insists on neon pink, so I have all the pretty bedding in my sons room – he is too young to have a mind of its own. For now.
