Caudalie Quenching Sorbet-Creme

by | Sep 24, 2010

I have used Caudalie products ever since I first started modelling. A friend, who also happened to be a booker at a top Paris agency, left her Caudalie foaming cleanser at my house and I forgot to return it (sorry!) and ever since then, I’ve been hooked! I find the products to be very gentle, but with a certain ‘zing’ that I can’t quite put my finger on!

Caudalie has a new addition to its Vinosource range; the Quenching Sorbet-Creme for dehydrated and sensitive skin. Doesn’t it sound dreamy? The words ‘Quenching’, ‘Sorbet’ and ‘Creme’ just make me want to eat it with a little spoon! But (so far) I have resisted, and made do with putting it on my face and neck. My testing ‘conditions’? Slightly stressed, sore skin from having had makeup removed and reapplied throughout the day, with a final cleanse using….a babywipe. (Not my choice, trust me!)

Results: I love, love love this cream. As I tried so ineffectually to describe a few paragraphs ago, it’s gentle with an added ‘zing’. It has camomile, peptides and organic grape water in the formula to calm and soothe skin, and it is everything that a product aimed at sensitive skin should be; but there’s something else, something that goes beyond just ‘placating’ the skin. It feels as though it energises and renews. Perhaps it’s Caudalie’s patented grape-seed polyphenols at work – they’ve been shown to be extremely powerful antioxidants – or it could be the fortifying ‘Vinolevure’.

Who can tell? Not me, that’s for certain. All I know is that it seems to be the ‘Vine’ and ‘Vino’ ingredients that set Caudalie’s products apart, and I, as you may have gathered by now, love my Vino. Caudalie really does seem to have unearthed some great ingredients from the ancient process of wine-making, and they are now the leading anti-aging brand in French pharmacies. (If you’ve ever been in a French pharamcy, you’ll know that this is no small matter!)

Back to the results, because I’ve gone a little ‘off-piste’ with this: the ‘sorbet-creme’ is a highly effective moisturiser that continues working all day. This doesn’t just ‘water’ the skin, it nourishes it and helps it to retain moisture, which in turn helps to prevent visible signs of ageing in the long run. It’s ultra-light and easily absorbed, it’s free of parabens, artificial colourings, mineral oils and animal ingredients making it a good choice if you’re looking for more ‘natural’ skincare.

It’s sometimes difficult to find a formula for dry skin that isn’t heavy or greasy, and this one has the added benefit of being great for sensitive skin, leaving it smooth, soft and velvety. So if you’re looking for an ‘all-rounder’ moisturiser that’s soothing and calming (a great one to take on hols for after sun exposure) then this one won’t break the bank!
