Diptyque Offer and my Eco-Chic Wrapping Inspiration…

free baies candle diptyque

Continuing along merrily with my “Christmas Gift for them, Christmas Gift for you” theme: a reader offer from Diptyque. Spend £80 online and receive a gorgeous 70g Baies candle (above) – cult scent, all-round crowd-pleaser. So, you could spend £80 on gifts and treat yourself to the Baies or you could (this sounds better to me) spend £80 on yourself and get a Baies candle to give as a Christmas present. There’s always the third option, too: keep it all. (Gosh! What is the matter with me this week? I’m having a very selfish moment! My friends and family will be lucky if they get anything at this rate…)

diptyque christmas decorations

Diptyque have a gorgeous Christmas collection this year – jewel-toned candles in Pine Bark, Orange Chai and Indian Incense and then a very cute set of three tree decorations that smell exactly like a pine forest. And not in that awful artificial way that most pine-scented things tend to be; it’s a proper “I’m lost in the woods, help I have no torch or map” kind of pine. Handy if you have an artificial tree (I do) and want to re-capture that wintery feeling…

I’ve been a bit carried away with Christmas stuff over the last few days, mainly because I’m about to film the annual Gift Guides. The house is strewn with wrapping paper and annoying bits of tinsel and sticky rosettes and things that the cat keeps plodding away with. I just found two Christmas baubles in his bed – I think he may have been trying to make them hatch.

This year, though, it’s all about Eco-Chic wrapping. I’m going to be looking at ways to jazz up brown paper – partly inspired by the cardboard tube that this Conscious Skincare bath soak (above) came packaged in. I love the reindeer tape trim – very understated and cool, a little Scandinavian, I feel. What do you think? I like the idea that the parcel itself is quite plain and then you get this contrasting burst of colour when you open it and see what’s inside. Nice. You can find Conscious Skincare here.
