M&S: The Cool Coat and my Tiger Tee!

marks and spencer autumn 2013

I can’t believe that we’ve had one of the most amazing British summertimes in years and years, yet I was holed away in my office staring at the computer screen for months! It’s over and I hardly even saw it! Saying that, I’m quite pleased that we’re entering the autumnal months – I find that they’re actually the easiest to dress for. Not so cold that everything has to be topped off with seventy layers of wool, but cold enough that you can wear nice coats and sweaters and not get perved at on the tube when you wear floaty dresses. Win-win.

You may have noticed that I have already embarked on my “autumn wardrobe” mission (see the coats post here) -and I have also been spending time between shows at London Fashion Week diving in and out of the shops and trying things on. When it comes to shopping I’m almost insatiable. Insatiable, I tell you…

Possibly with that in mind, Marks and Spencer invited me to style up an autumn outfit from their new collection*. Something that would bridge the gap until it the weather starts to get properly cold…  I have to say that it was quite difficult choosing just one look – there were a couple of faux fur jackets that looked incredible and some gorgeous pastel coloured coats too.

In the end I went for my favourite – a quite masculine, oversized biker jacket in a wheat colour (here online). Not a tone I would naturally gravitate towards, but I think that it looks great. I like it with the sleeves all ruched up, giving it some attitude! I’ll be frank: I would never have chosen it from the online pic with it all done up at the front in the most uncool way. I saw it instore and loved it immediately but actually couldn’t believe the one online was the same coat! You’ll see what I mean if you click the link – the coat is £89 from M&S Collection here.

Second favourite thing in my sartorial life this month: the Tiger Tee. How cool is this? It’s a really soft, flattering jersey and (dare I say something so cheesy?) a bit rock ‘n roll.

The Tiger Tee (here) is £17.50 but until midnight tonight, everything online has 20% off. So sorry to those reading this in the morning email – I had no prior warning! It’s still brilliantly priced, at any rate. The coat, too – though if you can take advantage of the offer, the coat is down to £71.20. The jeans I’m wearing are Limited Edition Supersoft Jeggings in black. Really soft (as promised!) and very comfy. You can find those here – they are £29.50 or £23.60 before midnight. Really very handy.

Just an FYI: I am wearing a size 8 coat, size 10 tee and size 8 jeggings. Usually I take a size 10 in most other brands, so I’d say quite safely that the sizing here runs ever so slightly large. Just in case that’s helpful to somebody. Anybody. Let me know what you think of my outfit in the comments…
