Bringing Favourites Back (Not SexyBack)

by | Jul 31, 2019

beauty favourites

I’m toying with the idea of bringing my Favourites back. It’s like bringing sexy back (Justin Timberland reference, because I’m down with the kids), except that it’s videos with really good beauty products in, rather than a sultry man in a sharp suit singing about women.

(Just had to watch the SexyBack video on Youtube to research that little quip. Goodness, it’s quite an intense and strangely repetitive track isn’t it? I feel it’s the musical equivalent of being stuck inside a noisy, malfunctioning CT scanner whilst the operator whispers stuff at you that you don’t really understand.)

Anyway, yes: the monthly favourites videos. I stopped doing them because it was a bit like flogging a dead horse, and everyone on earth was doing them as a matter of course, but I miss them a lot. I often find make amazing beauty discoveries and really wish that I had a place to talk about them, rather than just randomly popping up on Instagram and saying “well this leg cream really works wonders!”

No leg creams in this episode, but the beauty offering includes an incredibly good cleanser at an affordable price (it’s Beauty Pie, so brace yourselves for the membership/weird pricing thing), a morning moisturising gel that I’ve been using most days and a new Colab dry shampoo with minimal scent.

And there are books! Two of them! A recipe book so good that I’ve had visitors sneakily ordering it on their phones as they sit pretending to listen to my conversational anecdotes, drinking the tea I’ve made them, the cheeky gits. And the decorating guide that will inspire and excite you and genuinely help if you can’t decide what colour to paint your bathroom.

I’ve linked to everything below the video pane, for those who can’t bear to watch videos/will get told off for watching videos because they’re supposed to be at work – everyone else, click play!

Wallpaper is from Borastapeter; I bought mine from Designer Wallpapers but it’s half the price at this place here, which is nice for you but not so much for me.

  5. I really like ad hoc favourites, when there are things you’re really excited to share. They fall a bit flat when they are monthly and people (not you!) include stuff to fill time. I vote yes please, as and when! P.s. lovely lamps, I am nervous for your white shades, trying to dust fabric lamp shades drives me wild.

  9. Please do continue with favourites (whether skin makeup or home) and review videos-they were what I started following your website for and to be honest they are still what I like to see. By the way I agree with you about the blush lamps-they do look more vintage than white would.

  10. I have a huge cookbook collection too, but I can never resist a great recommendation. I’ll track this one down.
I love your lights and quite like the various shades that match so nicely with your beautiful wallpaper. Looks like a very serene space.
